As part of my Galentines celebration, my friends and I will all be making a “signature cocktail” to share with the group. To be honest, I’m a little worried about what everyone is going to make since their favorite drinks range from espresso martinis to jack and pickle juice (please I’m begging you Kayla, don’t make this one).
I’ve always been more of a rum girl, so I knew I wanted my drink to include rum but had no idea what else to put in it. I was honestly just throwing random things together and seeing what tastes good when I stumbled onto this punch. It has a hint of sweetness that’s followed up by some bitterness from the jalapenos. It took me all of 10 minutes to make a batch big enough for a group of 6.
P.S. the rum punch was a huge hit at my Galentines party! Most of us prefer sweeter drinks but for those who don’t, you can counter the sweetness with an extra jalapeno slice and or an ice cube.
Raunchy Rum Punch
Equipment
- 1 Cocktail Shaker
Ingredients
- 6 Cups fruit juice of choice
- 3 Cups rum of choice
- 1 Cup blackberries
- 1 Cup strawberries
- 2 jalapenos
- sugar for the rim (optional)
Instructions
- Sugar the cup rims using water as a base.
- Muddle the strawberries and blackberries in a small bowl. Transfer the mixture evenly into each of the cups.
- Cut the jalapenos into slivers about ½ inch wide. Drop 2 slivers into each cup.
- Combine the rum and fruit juice using a cocktail shaker. Depending on the size of your shaker, you may need to complete this step in small batches. Your rum to juice ratio should be ½ cup to 1 cup. Once shaken well, pour drink mixture evenly into each cup.
- Use the rest of the jalapeno slivers as garnishes.
